Vietnam participates in World Tourism Fair

From 5-9 March, more than 30 Vietnamese companies gathered at the Berlin International Fair Center (Germany) to participate in the biggest World Tourism Fair, with 11,147 companies from 186 countries and territories around the world.

Vietnam was represented by 26 companies, 10 from Germany and one from the UK.

The biggest ever display on Vietnam, around 200 square metres, was organised by the Vietnamese Administration of Tourism and Vietnam Tourism Association.

Remarkable features of the Vietnamese delegation are the national and festive flags mixed with the Khue Van Cac symbol (from the Temple of Literature) and numerous leaflets advertising the power of Vietnamese tourism companies.

Such advertising activities in combination with a Vietnamese gastronomy kiosk organised by Mr Nguyen Van Khanh-chief of the Vietnam National Flag Carrier Vietnam Airlines representative office in Germany have won the hearts of visitors.

In addition, the beauty and uniqueness of the traditional "ao dai" and high-level English skills of marketing girls also attracted international friends.

In the future, Vietnam should enhance co-operation between Vietnamese students in Germany and domestic tourism companies to promote the Vietnamese tourism industry.

International friends have also heard about the beauty of Ha Long Bay, a top nominee for the new "Natural Wonders of the World".

According to the World Tourism Organisation, in 2007 alone around 200 million people traveled to Asia, and the region's tourism industry is rapidly growing. In which, Vietnam as a destination posted a record in luring visitors in the last several decades.

"This year's fair in Berlin saw the biggest ever number of exhibitors", said the Federal Minister of the Economy, Michael Glos.
