Thanh
Hoa northern province is now striving to build
Sam Son town
into a developed sea tourism town from now by the year 2010.
Since the
early years of the 20th century when the town was first
planned as a sea resort, there have been now 400 hotels,
guests' houses with 6,000 rooms, with a capacity of 20,000
visitors per day. Each year, the town receives around 1.2 to
1.3 million of visitors.
In the coming time, when the Nghi Son economic zone is
operational, more people, including foreigners will come to
the town for conference, seminars, tourism and also sea
bathing. Therefore, the town's administration is now
striving to rearrange the service system, strengthen
management and shift economic structure. Since 1996,
hundreds of billions of Vietnamese dong has been invested to
build hotels and improve transportation, water and electric
system.
To reach the target to build Sam Son into a sea urban area,
the locality's administration is now carrying out the
urbanisation plan with areas reserved for administration
centre, trade and service centre and entertainment centre.
Under the plan, a big supermarket will be built to meet the
tourists consume demands. Culinary centres will also be
built in the town's centre as well as in the Quang Cu
ecological tourism area.
Recently, the town has invested VND 10 billion to improve
streets and lanes to the sea. The town also calls for more
investment in building entertainment area, Ho Xuan Huong
walking street and park.
Apart from planning and infrastructure, Sam Son is now
building a friendly and civilised lifestyle in tourism
activities. Training is also provided to hotels' staff so
that they can improve their tourism skill to better serve
customers.
With those efforts, Sam Son sees positive changes and
contributes to the tourism development.
